MONDO CUT: FERAL BEAT - “COLD LOVER”
Where Useless Eaters is a wet dream for deadbeats, skate rats and crustose punks sporting Killed By Death hard-ons, Feral Beat possesses some serious crossover potential. Seth Sutton’s new project is slowed down and polished with a lyrical delivery that drools a cool, New Wave cockiness slick enough to grease your acoustic nerve into melted butter.
“Cold Lover” is a full on angular surf rager, pounding the line between something you’d witness dudes in gorilla masks performing and a Lars Finberg incarnation. Heavy Cream member Mimi Galbierz delegates duties on bass, beneath somewhat hysterical verses addressing the flakiness of a hooker/girlfriend. B-side “Canned Heat,” is exactly what its title alludes - allowing the beat to groove instead of guide, and goddamn it’s sweet. Out now on Tic Tac Totally.
